An Integrated FAHP-PROMETHEE Approach For Selecting The Best Flexible Manufacturing System

    Get PDF
This paper proposes an integrated approach to the decision-making problem that combines the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE) with the purpose of Evaluation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems with a Group Decision Support System (GDSS). The FAHP is used to determine the weights for each criterion and PROMETHEE is applied to get the final ranking and GAIA plane is used to highlight the conflicts, the similarities and independences among the criteria and the DMs. Finally, a numerical example proposed in this paper determines the most appropriate FMS alternative

Host stage preference, functional response and mutual interference of Diaeretiella rapae (McIntosh) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) on Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) were investigated under defined laboratory conditions (20±1°C; 60±5% relative humidity; 16 h light/8 h dark photoperiod). Nicholson’s model and linear regression were used to determine per capita search-efficiency and the interference coefficient, respectively. There was a significant difference between the rates of parasitism on different stages of D. noxia. The highest parasitism percentage was observed on the third instar nymphs of D. noxia in both choice and no-choice preference tests. Results of logistic regression revealed a type II functional response. The estimated values of search-efficiency (a) and handling time (Th) were 0.072 h-1 and 0.723 h, respectively. The maximum attack rate was calculated to be 33.22. The per capita search-efficiency decreased from 0.011 to 0.004 (h-1) as parasitoid densities increased from 1 to 8. Therefore, different host-parasitoid ratios can affect the efficacy of D. rapae

New records of Cheloninae (Förster, 1862) and Braconinae (Nees, 1811) (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Braconidae) from Iran

The occurrences of Chelonus erythrogaster Lucas, 1848 (Braconidae, Cheloninae) and Glyptomorpha nachitshevanica Tobias, 1976 (Braconidae, Braconinae) are noted here for the first time as members of the fauna of Iran. The specimens were collected from Fars province (Southern Iran). Morphological characters of both species are briefly described together with brief diagnostic comments and discussion about their distribution

Autophagy knock down: as a booster for the replication of viruses in cell culture

    Get PDF
Background: Autophagy suppression recently has been known to have a remarkable effect for cellular adjustment and viability in the final stages of cancer. On the other hand, autophagy has the potential effect in preventing many viruses from replication. Beclin1 is the most substantial constituent in autophagy apparatus regulation. This study was intended to investigate the beclin1 siRNA knockdown effect on the extent of activity of the oncolytic vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) as a model in cell culture. Materials and Methods: In the current study, the cancer cell line , HeLa (cervical squamous cancer cell line ) was infected by VSV, followed by beclin1 siRNA vector transfection. The potential change in the expressions of gene beclin1 in transfected cells, as well as untransfected ones were examined by real time PCR, and also the titer of viruses was compared in cells with and without transfection. Results: The results revealed that the amount of putative gene beclin1 expression in HeLa cells decreased greatly due to siRNA suppressive impact, and also the sensitivity of the cells to VSV oncolytic effect increased upon decrease in beclin1gene expression. Conclusion: It seems that autophagy suppression by using siRNA with VSV is a substantial aid for increase in virus titer in cancer cell lines

Evaluation of Effectiveness of Photodynamic Therapy With Low-level Diode Laser in Nonsurgical Treatment of Peri-implantitis

Introduction: Side effects related to antibiotic therapy for peri-implantitis are rare in laser therapy (LT); therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of LT and photodynamic therapy (PDT) on patients with primary peri-implantitis.Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 40 implants presenting primary peri-implantitis in 20 patients with a mean age of 52.6 years old were included using the simple sampling technique. Periodontal treatment comprising scaling and root planing (SRP) was accomplished for the whole mouth while mechanical debridement with titanium curettes and air polishing with sodium bicarbonate powder was accomplished around the implants. The implants were randomly divided into two groups and treated with LT (control) and PDT (test). The clinical indices were measured at baseline, 6 weeks and 3 months after treatment. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used for analysis of microbial samples at baseline and 3-month follow-up. Data were analyzed with SPSS 20, using repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Friedman’s and Mann-Whitney tests (α = 0.05).Results: Both groups showed statistically significant improvements in terms of bleeding on probing (P < 0.001), probing pocket depth (PPD) (P = 0.006) and modified plaque index (P < 0.001), with no significant differences between the 2 groups (P > 0.05). The number of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (P = 0.022), Tannerella forsythia (P = 0.038) and Porphyromonas gingivalis (P = 0.05) in the test group and Porphyromonas gingivalis (P = 0.015) in the control group significantly decreased. Conclusion: The results suggested that LT and PDT have significant short-term benefits in the treatment of primary peri-implantitis
